Thursday, 26th March, saw Worlebury host the Somerset Schools Championships with six Wells Junior members in attendance to represent their respective schools. The Wells juniors have worked hard over the winter and this is proving beneficial, as all six returned personal bests on the day, with four returning a top twenty finish in the field of fifty plus.

It wasn't until the last group of the day, that the final results were known. Atley Stacey-Day was in the clubhouse with a superb net 62, however, Freddie Lovell returned the round of his life and a net 61 to take the Net Championship by one stroke. All of the juniors were a credit to the club and their schools.

A wet and dreary 2nd April greeted the large field of seniors, who gathered to play their first medal of the season at Wells Golf Club. The early starters suffered from the worst of the conditions, with steady drizzle making for difficult visibility and awkwardly-paced greens. The weather improved gradually, with the wind dying down and the rain ceasing eventually.

Senior Club Champion, Mike Metcalfe, made the most of his late tee time and good conditions to shoot a solid, no three putt, net 70 (gross 77) round.

Clearly playing remarkably well, Chris Betenson overcame the early difficulties, carding an excellent 69 (gross 78). The best was left until the end, with a member of the last group shining through for a maiden victory in a Seniors Medal.Keith Trask had an excellent round of 67 (gross 82) to win the day.
