Purnell Men's A Team had a great win at home last Saturday in the Premier Division of the Somerset Bowls League against the might of Bath.
They won on two rinks and drew on one, winning the match 51–39 and taking the points, 11–1. This takes them into sixth place in the league, with Street away to come this Saturday, followed by two home games against Bristol and Yeovil. Anything is possible for the outcome of the final league table, although Ilminster are well placed to win back-to-back titles, having only lost one game to date.
The B Team in Somerset East One travelled to local rivals, Norwest A, and everything was going well for them until the heavy rain came. Some of the players were unable to cope with the changing conditions, which resulted in a loss on every rink and not taking a point.
The C Team in East Two were away to Bath Weston C and won by fifteen shots, winning on all rinks and taking all twelve points.
