Another great week for Purnell Men bowlers, firstly winning in the National Two Rink on Wednesday, 19th June against Victoria, Weston-super-Mare, with one rink winning by eleven and the other losing by six, giving a winning shot difference of five shots. They will now play either Yatton or Clevedon in the next round.
Then, on Friday night, Purnell Men entertained Wedmore at home in the county Turnbull Cup, winning on three of the four rinks and by 21 shots overall. They will now play Yeovil on a neutral green on Friday, 19th July in the quarter-finals.
The county competitions did not go as well for the club, with Jane Gullick losing in the semi-finals of the Two Wood to Bath player, Joan Walmsley, Don and Jan Dart losing a very close game to Bath pair, Judith Staunton and John Mathews, in the mixed pairs. Maureen and Roger Withey in the same competition lost to Graham and Carol Simmons, also from Bath.
This leaves the club with only one interest in county games, when the Men's Fours of Terry Priddle, John Challenger, Mike Pratt and Steve Amor travel to Ilminster on Friday, 5th July to play Street in the quarter-finals.
