The Seconds registered their third bonus point win in as many games, on the coldest day of the season at Norton Down.
With strong winds and even snow falling, this game was a battle from the off, and Norton fell behind after five minutes as the away side controlled early possession.
The conversion attempt was unsuccessful, and the elements made kicking for goal an impossible task all afternoon. However, Norton bounced back after the superb Tyrone Moss dived over the line from a typically powerful run.
Nath Fear gave Norton the lead shortly before half-time, when he crashed over from five metres after the home side had travelled almost the length of the field with pick-and-goes.
The home side were now in control of the game, and dominated the second half with a mixture of picking and going and clever kicks for territory.
When Stothert & Pitt failed to deal with one such kick, Moss took advantage of the situation to extend Norton’s lead. The Away side hit back quickly in bizarre fashion when Norton lost their concentration in a maul, but Captain, Hawkins, made sure of the victory after he danced over the line following a strong line-out drive.
Once again, Norton showed tremendous spirit and application in tough conditions to keep their fine run of form going. Next week, the Seconds host top-of-the-table Cheddar Valley at Norton Down.
