Bath RFC Ladies had a spectacular 2015/16 season, with the first team winning twelve out of their fifteen games and finishing second in the RFUW Championship South West League. Preparations have already started to go one better in the new season.

The Bath RFC 150th anniversary has meant an increase of interest in the club across all levels and teams, and the ladies have seen a massive increase in numbers, with over fifty new players joining the ranks over the 2015/2016 season, an increase of 125%. This increase in popularity in the game and in the team has meant, for the first time ever, the Bath RFC Ladies have been able to run out a second team in the league.

With three convincing wins in their first ever season, the Ladies are brimming with confidence, ready to hit next season hard. They have also won the Bath Chronicle’s Sports Award for Senior Team of the Year, as well as being Highly Commended at the RFU President’s Awards.

“The focus is all about growth, and we are thrilled to be able to enter a second team into a league for the first time. This year, we’ve seen a big increase in the interest of our wonderful sport.

“We look forward to welcoming more people into the fold,” said Sarah

Holloway, Bath RFC Ladies Captain 2015/16.

Bath has brilliant coaching staff, which can develop everyone from a complete beginner to a pro. Sarah Hunter, England Women’s Captain, Caryl Thomas, Wales Women and Tom Dunn, Bath Men’s First Team Hooker, are amongst the coaching staff at the club.

Women’s rugby is one of the largest up-and-coming sports in the UK. England Women winning the World Cup in 2014 bought a huge increase in media attention. Rugby 7s has also been included in the Rio Olympics, and England are due to run out strong teams for both Women and Men’s tournaments.
