Having left Norton in rain, bright sunshine greeted the team when they arrived at Dorchester. The Norton side started well, intending to make the most of the good conditions, but small handling errors and nerves stopped them from taking an early lead.

On Dorchester’s first attack into the Norton half, the defending team was adjudged to not have released the tackled player before contesting for the ball. Dorchester stepped up and slotted a penalty to go into the lead 3–0 totally against the run of play.

Norton’s forwards now took control of the game, winning all of the scrummages both with and against the head. This gave the team a great platform to play off. Following a number of forward drives, James Fuller opened Norton’s account scoring the team’s first try of the season crashing over the line.

Ben Taylor kept the score board ticking over with a penalty goal. The Norton centre pairing of Mitchard and Martin worked well in defence and attack, but the team just couldn’t benefit from their strong runs. Matthew Edgell eventually scored Norton’s second try finishing off a move that saw him in space on the wing, Dorchester’s covering defence were unable to stop the prop once he was in his stride.

The second half started as the first one ended, with Norton playing all of the rugby, but with very little to show for it. Ben Taylor slotted two more penalty kicks stretching Norton’s lead before winger, Ross Miller, scored the visitors’ third try. Ben Taylor added the conversion.

As the game moved into the final ten minutes, the home side mounted a number of attacks, but Norton’s defence stood firm. The final score was 3–25.
