Midsomer Norton Seconds clinched the Somerset Division Two League title with a bonus-point win on a windy day at Norton Down.
Hornets battled hard throughout the contest, but Norton kept possession well, and their pressure finally told midway through the first half, when opportunistic Captain, Julian Hawkins, took a quick penalty and danced across the line, with Best converting.
The Seconds worked relentlessly throughout in challenging conditions, and number eight, Robbie Fuller, added to his impressive tally for the season, powering over with a try either side of half-time.
The bonus point was secured with quarter-of-an-hour to go, when Adam Sinden released Scott Goddard, who charged over. Norton are now unbeaten since early November, and this victory took them to eighty points. The news that Walcot had beaten Bristol Telephones meant that their lead at the top of the table was unassailable, and promotion was finally confirmed.
