The boot of Tom Rideout once again proved the difference for Midsomer Norton, who ground out a big win against Bath Old Edwardians.

With the home side enjoying a bumper crowd on their sponsors and supporters’ day, Norton were made to battle throughout in tough conditions.

Henry Mclachlan opened the scoring for the Away side, charging down a kick midway through the first half. Rideout converted the kick right in front of the posts.

Although Norton generally controlled the possession and territory, they found it difficult to fashion scoring opportunities and Old Edwardians took the lead going into half-time.

A penalty in front of the posts, followed by a breakaway try gave the huge home crowd something to cheer about going into the break. Norton faced an uphill task with just ten minutes to go when the home sides’ winger finished in the corner.

However, the Seconds, inspired by the introduction of Andy Parker on the touchline, claimed the victory when Rideout found Matthews with a brilliant pass, who charged over from close range. Tom converted to give Norton the narrowest of victories and solidify their status in Somerset Tribute One.
