The Seconds suffered a loss in their opening game of the season in a scrappy encounter against their local rivals.

Norton struggled to gain meaningful possession of the ball, and were hampered by their own poor discipline with a challenging referee.

Three kickable penalties before the break left them chasing the game at the interval, before Wells extended their lead to twelve points early in the second half. The Seconds stuck at the game with a brave defensive effort led by Captain and Norton’s Man of the Match, Robbie Fuller, however, chances of a comeback were remote, as they were twice reduced to fourteen men against a fitter side.

The game was taken further away from them midway through the second half when Wells finally crossed the whitewash to extend their lead to seventeen points. After this, Norton rallied and Alex Davis got the away side on the scoresheet from close range after a period of sustained pressure and some great work by Jason Holmwood. Dan Nesbitt added the extras, but this would prove to be the last action of an ultimately frustrating game.
