AFTER another successful year, the Paulton & District Skittles League concluded their 2026-27 season in May with three cup finals in three days.

Congratulations to teams who won cups or won promotion. A special mention goes to Purnell’s Cricket Club skittles team who not only won first division by a distance, but also won the Nomination Cup and the Knock Out Cup on their way to completing a remarkable treble. Well played that team.

The annual general meeting took place at Radstock Working Men’s Club on Friday, 12th June, with all winning teams receiving their trophies and awards. This is also where the annual charity donations were awarded.

This year’s recipients were Freewheelers Blood Bikes & Children’s Hospice South West. Chairman Paul Derrek presented representatives of both charities with cheques of £600 each.

The league’s long-standing league secretary, Graham Whittock stood down after 63 years in the position. He received a standing ovation and at the age of 87 he now takes over the prestigious post of League President.

About our league: We are a mixed men and women’s league and play our games on Wednesday and Thursday evenings throughout the season, which runs from September through to May.

Last season we had 78 teams take part with over 700 local skittlers participating weekly; that’s much needed business for our local pubs & clubs. At present, we have a couple of spare places for new teams.

So if you have a group of 8 mates and an alley to play on, then please check out our website for more information and registration forms. www.p-d-s-l.com. If you wish to sponsor our league then head over to our ‘Sponsorship’ page.

See you all on the Alley. Keith Parsons, League Secretary.
