A cracking advert for non-league football was served up at Winterfield Road for the crowd of 244, with a healthy number from Slough.
Rovers took the lead on 21 minutes, as Davies' cross was turned home by Rebels, centre half, Reece York, under pressure from Mike Bryant.
Paulton added a second two minutes later, with slick passing by Ash Williams, who found McCootie wriggling past the visiting defence to Davies, who fired past Jake Somerville.
As Rovers pressed for a third, Bryant nearly finished off a neat move, shooting across the goal, and then losing the influential Davies with a hamstring problem shortly before half-time.
Slough came out a more determined outfit with swathes of attacks. Five minutes in, York saw his header brilliantly saved by Kyle Phillips, turning the ball on to the crossbar and seeing a follow-up header by George Short cleared. Ten minutes later, the Rebels pulled one back when Alex Witham's cross was headed home by substitute, Alex Cornell.
Two minutes later and it was 2–2, when an inswinging corner on the right by James Dobson was headed home by York. A firm shot was held by Phillips and at the other end, Somerville, made a tremendous save from Williams and Paulton Skipper, Scott Brice, nearly beat the keeper at his near post.
Team: Kyle Phillips, Stuart Tovey, Marcus Mapstone, Scott Brice, Brandon Barnes, Ashley Williams, Mike Bryant, Ollie Knowles (sub. Jordan Walker, 71 mins), Jon Davies (Keiran Baggs, 37 mins), Nick McCootie. Substutes not used: Elliott Gibbon, Tom Seary, Ryan Batten. Man of the Match: Ashley Williams (Paulton Rovers).
