SIXTY-NINE played in Mendip Golf Club’s Mid Week Stableford which saw some fine scores returned.

Steve Lake won Division 3 with 41 points after count back from Mike Lill, with Charlie Barber 3rd with 40. Div 2 went to Patrick Wiseman with 39, Clayton Merrett was 2nd with 38 and Steve Cox 3rd with 37.

Div 1 saw a win for Chris Lindsey with a best score of the day 42 with Ian Perkins 2nd with 40 and Peter Grafton 3rd with 37 after count back. The Avalon A team have played Brean twice over the past 10 days, winning 4.5 - 0-5 at home and halving the away fixture. This leaves them top at the season’s half way point. 

Wins for Mendip in the two fixtures came from Tom Chapman/Mark Necker, Dan Allen/Baden Wilkinson, Rob Edney/Paul Lewis, Phil Leadbeater/Rob Cook a win and a half, Kevin Keene/Nick White, a win and a half and Jack & Darrin Vowles. The Ladies Stableford qualifier saw 45 ladies competing. Div 1 saw an excellent 38 points from scratch golfer Aimee Sawyer with Lynn Cox 2nd with 35 and Vi Hayes 3rd with 34 after count back. Div 2 was won by Andrea Williams with 37, Lulu Carolan was 2nd with 34 and Diane Stanton was 3rd with 32 after count back. Div 3 saw a win for Caroline Laws with 37 with Debbie Godwin 2nd with 36 and Pauline Williams 3rd with 35.

The Ladies Alliance A team enjoyed a fine 8-6 win v Bath; wins from Libbie Dezis, Lena Warren, Lynne Vowles and Carol King. The Roger’s Cup team had a fine 5.5 - 1.5 win over Taunton & Pickeridge and Jenny Merrett/Lyn Jones are now in the 5th round of the Daily Mail foursomes after an away win over Crane Valley. The Seniors had a good home win against Burnham & Berrow 4-2 with wins from Stephen Cox/David Judge, Tony Scott/Paul Godwin, Paul Ashman/Phil Brock and with halves from Steve Regler/Rob Richardson and Ian Whittamore/Martin Russell.

The Seniors Avalon team halved their match at Mendip Spring (a win on points). Wins from Terry Carter/Kevin Keene making his debut for the team and Nick White another debutant playing with the in form Paul Godwin and a half coming from Simon Brand/Nigel Brokenshire. Tony & Andrea Williams
