ENTRIES are now open for the 12th Chew Valley 10k which will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 9.30 am from Wick Road, Bishop Sutton.

Local business, Winford Ford will be joined by Brock & Houlford Expert Eyecare as main sponsors of the Chew Valley 10k.

This year, the event will be fundraising for Chew Valley School Society, Bishop Sutton School Society, NICU Support and Black2Nature, a local charity dedicated to connecting Visibly Minority Ethnic young people to nature in the Chew Valley, through day trips, workshops, Chew Camps and other events.

As always, Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest School (www.bishopsuttonpreschool.org.uk) will provide their delicious cakes and refreshments for supporters and runners alike.

Ayesha said: “As a small, local charity, we are grateful to be a beneficiary of the Chew Valley 10k this year and I am looking forward to actually taking part for the first time too.

“Any funds raised will help us continue creating opportunities for minority ethnic young people to experience the beauty of the Chew Valley countryside and the wildlife that is here.”

Mike from NICU Support has been providing support vehicles for the 10k for years and also helps in the set-up and clear-down of the event.

He says: “The support provided by the Chew Valley 10k will enable us to continue to help premature babies in neo-natal units all around the area, as donor breast milk can increase survival rates by 50%. The Chew Valley 10k is a fantastic opportunity to dust off those trainers and get involved in this fun, community event, knowing that you are also helping others – a win-win.”

When entering, people can choose to give a Sportsgiving donation. Those who would like to can simply click on the drop-down box when prompted and they can round your entry up to the nearest pound, fiver or more.

They can also choose to set up a Sportsgiving fundraising page at the click of a button on the entry page – a fantastic opportunity to run for one of the beneficiaries and help raise much-needed funds.
