Before Christmas, four of Purnell Indoor Bowls' Men, Mike Pratt, Ron Ferris, John Mathews and Alan Gilbert, travelled to Bristol to play one of the top rinks and came away with a famous victory in the National Over-60s competition.
After a close game throughout, the Purnell lads pulled away at the end to win 21–16, an excellent win against a very experienced Bristol four.
All the internal leagues are progressing very well, with exciting times to come in the new year with ladies and men's leagues being very closely contested and could be won by any one of five in some leagues.
