St Julian’s Church School in Wellow have many reasons to celebrate, thanks to a successful year at competitive sports.
Last week, St Julian’s swimming team won the Midsomer Norton Small Schools Swimming Gala with an armful of gold, silver and bronze medals to accompany the winning cup.
This was followed by the school’s Hi Five Year 6 Netball team playing their first knock-out tournament game, defeating Paulton 7-5!
School headteacher, Ruth Noall, commented: “Thanks to all of our pupils who have taken part in sporting activities this term and represented the school at outside events. They have been great examples to us all, and we can’t congratulate them enough!
“Well done also to Mrs Parker, who coordinates our PE curriculum so enthusiastically. Thanks to the dedication of all of sports stars, St Julian’s has every reason to celebrate this Christmas time.”
There has also been wider Church Valley Schools Federation success for the school, competing as a team and individuals in gymnastic after-school competitions.
Ruth added: “Thank you to Premier Sports for their coaching and support throughout with all our sporting teams.
“In the New Year, look out for our Year 5 Hi Five netball team, a new gymnastics club, federation basketball, as well as many other clubs.”
