A BIG crowd was at the final of the Paulton Hospital Annual Football Cup on Good Friday morning. This year’s finalists were Timsbury Res and Wells City A who won 2-0.  Wells dominated the play from the start, the first shot of the game being from Andrea of Timsbury going wide. Wells’ first shot was from outside the box from Truckle which hit the bar, with the Timsbury keeper well beaten. A mix up in the Wells back line let Hancock in on goal, and it was only the foot of the Wells goalkeeper McKenna which prevented a certain goal, the ball hammering off the inside of the post. On 53 minutes the deadlock was broken, Wells being awarded a penalty for a trip just inside the box, Cam Nicholson slotted the ball home into the corner of the net. A few minutes later it was Nicholson again with a great strike from 20 yards, giving the Timsbury keeper no chance.  It was all happening. Hancock the Timsbury goalkeeper said something to the linesman and was sin binned leaving Timsbury down to 10 men for 10 minutes, Cain Murphy proved to be a good stand in keeper and made several good saves.  Jacob McKenna was named man of the match.
