Welton made the long trip over the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall to play Saltash in the FA Cup, but returned home with nothing to show for their endeavours.

The game got underway with Welton missing three senior players through injury and the home side's first effort saw a flicked shot from Sam Farrant go wide of the target. It was a fast and furious start from both teams, with neither taking control of the game.

Good play from youngster, Connor Davies, saw his determination win a corner. Dan Cottle's delivery saw Saltash keeper, Tom Blacker, fumble his catch, the ball fell to Ben Harris, but his shot flew over the bar. On fifteen minutes, Welton suffered a setback when centre back, Michael Jones, pulled up with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Tom Smith.

Saltash took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Welton lost possession on the right, the ball was delivered to the edge of the area where it was met by Dave Trott, who fired in a cracking shot, that kept low and flew into the corner of the Welton net. Just before the half-time whistle, Welton had a penalty shout turned down by the referee when Davies was manhandled by keeper, Blacker, outside his area and thrown to the ground and at the other end, Welton keeper, Andy King, brought off two outstanding saves to deny Saltash a second goal.

The second half began with the home side pressing for further goals and a snapshot on the turn from Jake Vickers was well saved by King. As the half progressed, Welton got their act together and a change of tactics saw them taking the game to Saltash.

Efforts from Davies and Harris went close. However, on seventy minutes, Saltash got a second when a corner from the right from Joe Carey was met by Rikki Allen, who headed home from close range. Welton didn't give up the cause and six minutes later, Captain, Chris Peck, was bundled over in the area and the referee had no hesitation in awarding Welton a penalty.

Up stepped substitute, Rhys Cook, who fired in a cracking spotkick to score his first-ever FA Cup goal. It was all Welton now as they went all out for the equaliser, but despite their best efforts, the all-important goal wouldn't come and Welton's interest in this year's competition ended.
