Before the game started, there was a minute's silence for Welton

supporter and Green Army member, Adrian Barnett (Ade), who passed away suddenly on 7th October. The thoughts of all connected with Welton Rovers are with Ade's family.

After the midweek cup exertions against Frome, it was back to league action for Welton when they entertained Keynsham at West Clewes.

The game got underway with torrential rain falling and both sets of players had to get to grips with changeable conditions.

The visitors got in the mode straightaway and Kyle Box raced through the static Welton defence, only to see his shot flash wide of the Welton far post. A minute later, Pat Davison saw his shot saved by Andy King in the Welton goal.

Welton then suffered an early setback on sixteen minutes, when Steve Bridges pulled up, to be replaced by new signing, William Ollis, who was making his debut.

Welton took the lead on twenty minutes, when good work from Anthony Conradi on the left saw him deliver a pinpoint cross that was met by Mark Reynolds and he headed home from close range.

Welton continued to press and good work from Ollis found Conradi in space and his first-time volley was brilliantly saved one-handed by Chris Brice in the Keynsham goal.

The second half got underway and the visitors were going all out for an equaliser. Keynsham Skipper, Luke Lipinski, had an early chance when the slippery ball fell away from King, but Lipinski saw his effort fly over the bar.

Both sides continued to press, but it was Welton who made the vital breakthrough in the 67th minute, when Dan Cottle raced into the Keynsham area and found Ollis in space on the edge and the youngster made no mistake as he drilled his shot into the Keynsham net to score on his debut for Welton.

The game continued to flow and Welton seemed to drop back a bit, allowing the visitors to realise they might have a chance. And so it was, when a pacey run down the right by Matt Curnock saw him deliver a good cross that was met by Tom Morgan on a charge and he cracked the ball into the Welton net. This gave the visitors the impetus to go for the equaliser and Welton retreated and football being football, with a minute remaining, Welton gave away a needless free kick and the delivery from Tom Morgan was met by defender, Ben Stiff, who headed home to equalise for Keynsham and earn them a deserved point.
