Finally, the powers that be have deemed Nick Beaverstock worthy of the Manager of the Month title for the Toolstation Western League First Division. The news comes after Welton's gutsy performance against the mighty Bradford Town on Boxing Day, which saw Welton draw 3–3.
Typically, Nick has said that the award is for the whole club and not just for him. In particular, Nick points to the arrival of Malcolm Beck and the
experience Malcolm has brought to the club.
"As a club, we have come a long way since the summer. A huge amount of work has been put in, both on the football side and also behind the scenes and I know that there is more to come from us.
"The players have worked their socks off since we lost heavily at Taunton Town and that has told me an awful lot that is positive about this group of lads.
"Inevitably now, I've got to focus on not falling victim to the Manager of the Month curse!"
It has been a number of years since any Welton Rovers Manager has won the award and Chairman, Stuart Minall, was similarly pleased with the news.
"We have been putting in the hours and for the football to be going the way it has is a massive bonus. As Nick has said, it is an award for the club and not just for him – but the focus is on progression for the club and promotion. We need to put some pressure on Shepton and see if they can deal with it."
Welton Rovers have also announced that the home game against Roman Glass St George will now take place on Tuesday, 11th February, at 7.30 p.m.
The Reserves will take on Cutters Friday in Bristol on Saturday, 3rd May.
This Saturday, the First Team are away to Westbury United, kick-off at 3 p.m. and the Reserves will be home to Bishop Sutton Reserves, kick-off at 2 p.m.
