Calling all Years, Reception, 1, 2 & 3! On Saturday September 29th, from 10.00 a.m. till 12.30 p.m., Westfield FC will be holding an open traing session at the Centurion Hotel grounds, next to St Benedicts School. The aim of the session is to introduce boys & girls to Youth football with the hope that they will enjoy it and want to become involved in the club.

Acting Chair, Simon Cox, said: "The youth section of any club is so important. The Development Committee is working hard to attract youngsters to the club. We are offering this free session to give boys and girls an insight into football and what fun it can be.

"We have this marvellous facility here at the Centurion and we are looking to attract Reception, Years 1, 2 and 3 to come along to the club. The coaches are FA qualified and hold the relevant CRB checks.

"We have also provided local schools with details of this event, in the form of flyers. We would ask parents to stay with the children on this first session. Our aim is to reintroduce Under-7 and Under-8 teams in the club, but to do that we need the players and a management team, so we also need an enthusiastic mum or dad to run the team.

"Any parent who volunteers will become part of the Management Committee and will get their full support in how to run a football team. Training kit and strips will be provided to any team formed. Boys and girls can train from the age of five, but they cannot play mini soccer until they are six years of age.

"On the day, coaches will be on hand to take the boys and girls and members of the committee will be available if any parents have questions on how the club is run and what is involved to become a manager. After the session, drinks and snacks will be provided for the children. If any child wants an introduction to football, please come along on Saturday, 29th September. They will be more than welcome."

If you would like to call Simon to discuss this event or the possibility of your child playing football at any age, please do so on 07764 340455.
