Saturday night saw the winning debut for young boxer, Cameron Walker. Representing Norton Radstock Amateur Boxing Club, Cameron had a hard night ahead of him when his opponent revealed himself to be a tall southpaw.
Boxing well to instructions, Cameron forced a standing eight count in the second after losing the first round to his opponent’s awkward style. Building on his success, Cameron returned to the hard-punishing body shots his taller opponent couldn’t handle.
The third round came down to fitness and aggression, of which Cameron had plenty left, forcing his opponent on to the back foot no sooner than the bell sounded. Under the instructions of his coach, Sean Jenkins, to be controlled with his aggressive work, he saw out the final round to take the bout on a split decision.
Sean said: “Cameron showed me tonight that he has fitness skills, aggression and heart – everything he needs to go forward and bag a few more wins in the coming months as the season comes to an end.”
