Travelling away to Sodbury, the team of Oli Leatham, Sam Thomson, Callum Silkstone and Patrick Lodge arrived to see fairly newly laid astro turf courts.
With both teams at the bottom of the table, this was an opportunity to gain points for both sides.
Patrick and Callum played Steve and Ash. 6-1,6-1 was an unfair reflection of the match and something that is contributing to a frustrating season.
Oli and Sam started well together against Lee and Duncan, however they couldn’t sustain the pressure they created – 6-1, 6-3 to Sodbury. In the reverse matches, unfortunately, Oli, already with an injured back, couldn’t continue, giving Sodbury the match. A great effort from both Sam and Oli.
Patrick and Callum had the very similar story of playing well, but not winning the crucial points and a 6-2, 6-2 loss followed. Callum returned very well throughout the evening and the pair deserved a little more from these matches.
This result leaves the first team with a mountain to climb to avoid relegation. However, the team is looking strong for next week.
