Writhlington School’s Corey Walkes, from Radstock, who has competed internationally in trampolining has appeared in The Guardian’s weekend supplement.
Corey’s mum, Pippa, said: “Corey was asked by Paul Greaves, Master Coach to Bryony Page, who is Great Britain’s first ever Silver Olympic medalist in trampolining, fresh back from competing in Rio, if he would like to take part. He said that he felt Corey would be a great ambassador for the sport and I think he’s done him proud!”
The last nine months have been difficult for Corey after he fractured his navicular bone in his right foot. He is now half way through his 12-week rehab programme and is slowly progressing back to full fitness ready for the 2017 competition season.
There is a possibility that he will be competing in Japan at the Kawasaki Cup just before Christmas, but if he’s not ready by then, there are further exciting things ahead, with World Age Group trials for 2017 and also for the Youth Olympics in 2018.
