Timsbury continued their excellent start to the season with a comfortable 3–0 win over local rivals, Farrington Gurney.
The visitors took the lead early in the first half when Ross Padfield's free kick was headed into the path of Luke Derrick by James Noad, enabling Derrick to score from ten yards. Farrington almost hit backimmediately when Tony Ford's ball over the top found Dave Herrin, but his first-time shot went just wide of the post.
Another Padfield free kick into the Farrington penalty box resulted in defender, Tony Bennett, pushing Timsbury's Stuart Collins in the back and the referee had no option but to award a penalty to the
visitors, which Dave Percival fired into the top corner.
Mark Batchelor prevented the home side going further behind with an excellent save from a Sean Derrick shot. Timsbury substitute, Craig Dowling, played the ball back to Padfield, whose first-time cross bounced off teammate, Joe Parker's shoulder and into the Farrington net to give the visitors a 3–0 lead.
The home side had one more effort before the break, but Ford's shot was easily saved by Ben Paisey in the Timsbury goal.
In the opening minutes of the second period, Luke Tucker almost reduced the arrears, but Paisey tipped his shot onto the bar and then collected the rebound.
Timsbury also hit the woodwork when Luke Derrick played in Craig Dowling and his left foot shot also hit the crossbar. Dave Percival then played in Mark Gulliford, but Farrington's Chris Bridges got back to make a last ditch tackle just as the Timsbury forward was about to pull the trigger. Luke Derrick missed a great opportunity to get his second of the game when he headed wide of the goal from Gulliford's right-wing cross. Another cross from Timsbury's James Noad was partially cleared by Farrington as far as Dowling, but he dragged his shot wide of the goal. Man of the Match was Luke Derrick, Timsbury Athletic.
