Firefighters from Chew Magna observed a minute’s silence to remember all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks, 25 years ago.

They fell silent at 1.46pm, the exact time the first aircraft struck the North Tower of New York’s World Trade Center in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The South Tower was hit 17 minutes later.

Of the 2,977 victims who died that day, 343 firefighters of the Fire Department of New York made the ultimate sacrifice.

Chew Magna Firefighters watch manager Morgen said: “We remember the victims, their families, the emergency responders and all those affected by the events of that day.

“Their courage, bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
