The February Open Competition drew a large entry in both Colour and in Mono sections, and the winning shots chosen by new to the club judge, John Taylor, who covered a range of subjects as well as rewarding members for continued practice and determination to improve.

The Colour section was won deservedly by Pamela Bruce-Lockhart with “A Moment of Reflection”, with Tony Nineham’s “Chanterelle Mushrooms” in second and Jane Richardson’s very simplistic “Rope with Leaves” in third. Jill Toman, Janice Cuer and Bill Collett were all highly commended and both Jill and Janice were commended together, with Dan Clarke for his “Tor View”.

Janice Cuer was successful in taking first place in the Mono Section with “Dragon”, whilst Suzanne Ladd came second with “Capturing the Desert” and Louise Bailey was third with her “Dandelion”. Jill Toman, Bill Collett and Dan Clarke were highly commended and commended were Graham Nicholls, Janice Cuer and Louise Bailey. Cows appeared to feature strongly in this section!

Well done to all those winners. The quality and quantity of the entries bode well for a small club that really supports its members in their efforts to improve.

This week, the challenge will be “Juxtaposition” which was suggested by Suzanne Ladd as something we might usefully revisit from a tri battle focus of some years ago, I expect some interesting interpretations.

Next week, we will sit back and enjoy the work of the AV Group who sadly have been unable to meet this year, but whose past work should prove entertaining. If anyone not on our mailing list wishes to attend the Virtual AGM on Thursday, 4th March, they will need to contact me through the Contact Us section of the website with their e mail address, so that I can send the Zoom invitation to them.
