On Sunday 5th November, a group of more than twenty local residents and their trusty furry friends enjoyed a stroll around Midsomer Norton.

Starting at the The Dog Lovers Shop & Coffee Stop, the group headed towards Somervale School, marching on to Withies Lane before letting the dogs play in the field adjacent to the Midsomer Norton Cricket Club.

After a quick run around, it was back on leads as the group made for the Silver Street Nature reserve. The weather held off with the exception of a slight drizzle as the walkers made it to the woodland path connecting Silver Street and Pit Lane. The route was continued on the path beyond Pit Lane before cutting through a field to reach the River Somer. It was then when the heavens opened, leaving humans and pups alike soaked through, regardless of whether they decided to take a dip in the water or not!

A muddy walk back through the Town Park and on to Gullock Tyning was on the cards then, though smiles and laughter did not disappear. Mother Nature prevailed and perhaps rewarded the group for their positivity with some more beautiful Autumn sunshine. Some members parted ways from the High Street whilst the remainder soldiered on to The Dog Lovers Shop & Coffee Stop, where dogs were rewarded with a ‘pawpachino’, whilst their human counterparts settled for a coffees and hot chocolates.

Kate at The Dog Lovers Shop & Coffee Stop organises these community walks once a month. Everyone is welcome to come along, with or with out a canine companion. The group of walkers meet on the first Sunday of the month at 11am, outside the The Dog Lovers Shop & Coffee Stop, The Island, Midsomer Norton.
