HUNDREDS of residents and visitors braved the heat to enjoy a day of entertainment, community spirit and local talent as this year's Midsomer Norton Town Fayre and Town Show.

The popular annual event in Town Park on July 11 featured live entertainment, stalls, food and refreshments and children's activities, while the Town Show celebrated the talents of local residents through competitions in baking, sewing, arts and crafts, artwork, flowers and home-grown produce.

The success of the day reflected the hard work of the Town Council, Midsomer Norton Community Trust, volunteers, traders, exhibitors, performers and the many local organisations who came together to support the event.

Town Mayor, Cllr Martyn Plant, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the Town Fayre and Town Show.

“Events like this are at the heart of our community, bringing people together and celebrating the incredible talent, generosity and community spirit that make Midsomer Norton such a special place.

“My sincere thanks go to everyone who gave their time and energy to make the day such a success.”

The council paid tribute to those that helped deliver the event and thanked all the children who took part in the Maypole dancing, the bands, performers, entertainers, caterers and stall holders, who kept everyone smiling despite the overwhelming heat.

This year Midsomer Norton Town Council chose to work alongside the Midsomer Norton Community Trust managing the financial and some organisational aspects of the event with the trust playing a major role in supporting the delivery of this year's event.

Cllr Plant added: “Their experience, commitment and willingness to work alongside the Town Council and volunteers made an important contribution to the success of the day.

“The Town Council looks forward to building on this year's success and welcoming the community back to the Town Park for another fantastic Town Fayre and Town Show next year.”
