The Midsomer Norton Society recently visited the Somerset Heritage Centre and will be revealing the results of their search in the archives for all things associated with the town this Thursday, 28th April, 7.30 p.m. in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall.

The team of intrepid Society researchers spent a whole day at the archive and were able to gain access to an amazing array of documents, ranging from the sale catalogue for Norton House from 1880, detailing every aspect of the now lost mansion to the minute books of the original pre-1933 Midsomer Norton Town Council on the discussions around the original purchase of the Town Hall from the Beauchamp family. The team also searched through fourteen boxes of un-catalogued legal documents providing fascinating insights into the development of the town.

The talk will share the day’s research findings, illustrated with photographs from the Society’s extensive picture library. For anyone interested in local history this is a night not to be missed. Tickets are available on the door and non-members are very welcome – ring the Society Secretary on: 07530 042627 for further details.
