A number of new scams enabling hackers access to your computer and personal information are being reported.

One new scam includes the use of pop ups on your favourite webpages which lock your screen and prompts you to call an 0800 number. This number connects to people claiming to be from Apple and Windows who talk you through how to let them into your computer.

These pop ups can be avoided by installing an ad blocker programme through your web browser. As they take over the screen, they are difficult to escape out of, with many users having to cut power to their machines.

A new scam is also being reported by online retailer, Amazon, who say customers are receiving false emails claiming to be from the site saying a payment can not be processed with a link for customers which takes them to a form similar to those Amazon use to re-enter their details. Amazon has set up a help page for any customers who believe they have been contacted by scammers, which can be found at: https://goo.gl/qlfo1D
