THE annual Chew Magna Duck Race takes to the river on Saturday, May 9.

Each year, more than 600 ducks take to the water in a colourful race to the finish, cheered on by crowds lining the banks. The first ever Chew Magna village Duck Race took place in 1984.

A member of organisers, the Chew Magna Society Duck Race Team said: “We are planning a fun day for all, so come down to Streamside from midday for all the enjoyment and of course the duck races.

“Alongside the main race, there’s a Decorate-a-Duck competition, and a Business Duck Race, adding a bit of friendly rivalry for local businesses.

“It’s a brilliant mix of fun, colour and community spirit!”
