MRS Margaret West devoted great care and thought to preparing Tabor’s final service. She was assisted in the deliverance by Mr Eric Barge. Various members of the congregation took part and Mrs Angie Poole read a prayer on behalf of the Tabor Ringers, whose “home” Tabor had been for over 30 years.

Mr Malcolm Tucker, longest serving active member, gave his memories of his family’s years of association with Tabor since it was built.

In the opening of her address, Margaret reflected on the long history of worship within Tabor’s walls, wondering aloud how many people had stood in the pulpit over the past 161 years to deliver an address.

Though Tabor’s time as a Church comes to its close, the work of caring for children on the premises will continue, and in time the building will serve the wider community in new ways.

As part of the formal closing, Trustees Mrs Lyn Lye, Mr Geoff Shute and Mrs Colleen Shute removed various religious items from the church. Mr David Carter then handed the keys to Mrs Nicki Green, who is in the process of purchasing the building, marking the beginning of its next chapter.

We all wish her well.

ON Sunday Mr Haskins preached on Trinity Sunday, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Wednesday is our usual coffee/tea and biscuits morning commencing at 10.30am for an hour. Everyone is welcome. Why not give us a try, we are a friendly bunch and would love to meet you.
