Tabor Independent Methodist Church
IT was good to see a few fresh faces at Tabor for the most recent service, which was led by Mrs Margaret West. In her address she explained that this particular Sunday, established in 1925 as Christ the King Sunday, is the final Sunday of the liturgical year before the season of Advent.
She noted that while some present-day kings and world leaders focus on prestige, Jesus is centred on serving. It is a day for remembering that we are not the centre of the universe, but that Jesus is, and her choice of hymns reflected this. Unfortunately, the sound system was not on the same wavelength and remained troublesome throughout the service, making it necessary to resort to ‘Plan B’.
We are pleased to be welcoming Mr David Parker to lead the next service on December 7.
A date for your diary, December 14 will be a Christmas Music Service featuring The Singing Guitars.
All are welcome at any of our services or events. Details can be found on the noticeboard outside the church on North Road, Timsbury.

We welcomed Rev Marcus Torchon to lead Christ the King Sunday morning worship. It was a lively and uplifting service. He invited us to name letters of the alphabet connected to Christmas, while the children were asked to count how many crosses were in the worship area.
There were, in fact, close to 13, with their favourite being the one on our new Remembrance banner. They then drew a picture of Jesus in his castle or palace. It was an enjoyable morning for everyone.
An Advent Reflection will take place on Wednesday at 2.30pm, led by Rev David Winstanley. All are welcome.
Our Christmas coffee morning will be held on Saturday from 10am, with homemade cakes, turkey rolls, homemade soup, a raffle and Christmas stalls. Please do pop in.
Sunday morning worship at 10.30am will be led by Rev John Carne.
