Lazing on a Sunday afternoon as Trinity Singers return this June

THE next concert by Trinity Singers’ next concert will be 'Lazing on a Sunday afternoon' and will contain a variety of gentle music from composers old and new.

It will take you on a journey from sacred music, through the countryside, and you'll hear of love and loss, and revel in the wonders of warm, starry summer nights.

The programme includes the theme music from the Vicar of Dibley, an arrangement of Scarborough Fair, and music by Lauridson, Byrd and Tallis among others.

This concert will be rehearsed, and conducted, by their Guest Conductor Alison Blundell. Join them on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at St Mary's Church, Yatton at 3.30pm.

This will be a shorter programme of about an hour, followed by tea/coffee and cakes - just perfect for a (hopefully) sunny Sunday afternoon.

Tickets are available from their website www.trinitysingers.co.uk or from members of the choir.

Popular Peasedown Church Service Celebrates 20 years

A POPULAR Peasedown St John church service which was launched in 2006 to make church ‘more appealing’ is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Soul Food, a family friendly Sunday afternoon get-together with modern worship songs and an informal feel, was the brainchild of local vicar Rev Matthew Street.

Every Sunday, without fail, church goers and spiritual seekers have been gathering at St John’s Church at 4.30pm for a relaxed and welcoming style of Christian worship. Rev Matthew Street said: “Back in 2006, shortly after I’d arrived in the parish the year before, we decided we wanted to do something different. We wanted to launch a church service that allowed people to experience Christianity in a way that they felt comfortable with.”
