New annual statistics for household waste and recycling released last week show that B&NES Council is coming in 4th out of 92 unitary local authorities and ranked 15th out of all 338 local authorities in England for its household recycling rates.

The amount of material recycled in England was down slightly from last year with a rate of 43.8% down from 44.0% last year. However, residents in B&NES bucked this trend with a bumper recycling year. B&NES Council reported its own recycling figures last month to be the highest since records began.
