At the first full town council meeting of the new municipal year, Cllr Martyn Plant was unanimously re-elected as mayor for a second consecutive term, with Cllr Cheryl Scott also re-elected as deputy mayor.

The meeting took place on Monday, May 12, and also saw the co-option of two new councillors to the town council. Councillor Luanne Thornton and Councillor Alasdair Melville were welcomed to the council, both bringing a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives.

Mayor Cllr Martyn Plant expressed his gratitude for the continued support, stating, "I am honoured to serve as Mayor for another year and look forward to working with my fellow councillors to further our community's goals and initiatives."
