A MIDSOMER Norton and Radstock Royal British Legion member has been celebrated for her 25 years unbroken service collecting for the Poppy Appeal.
Volunteer Pattie Nicol was presented with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by county chairman Mike Allison.
She first started collecting for her father, a member of the Bath branch, but it was in the year 2000 when she was approached by Eric Cottle, the Midsomer Norton Branch President, to put a Poppy Appeal display in the window of the premises were she worked.
Pattie then started to collect several days each week at a local store, and when it closed moved to the local Tesco where she has been collecting ever since; even selling poppies outside her home during Covid with an honesty box.
