March has seen Dunkerton WI Flourish! Quite literally, in fact, when a group of nineteen members enjoyed a trip to Flourish at Glenavon Farm in Saltford.
Having browsed the beautifully stocked Home & Lifestyle shop and the temptingly laid out Foodhall, we all relaxed over tea and excellent cakes and enjoyed a natter in a cozy corner of the Kitchen café.
Our monthly meeting found us trying to lip-read, an exercise led by our volunteer speaker, Maggie Kirkup, from The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). Her enthusiastic and engaging presentation raised awareness of the difficulties encountered by those who are Deaf or have hearing loss, like Maggie herself, and offered simple practical suggestions to assist clear communication.
Out and about: Dunkerton WI Darts Team have won their first two matches in the Avon Federation of Women’s Institutes’ 2023 Darts Tournament; the Walking Group had an afternoon out following one of walker and historian Larry Cunningham’s published local walks through Clandown Bottom; and the Craft Group has been working with air-dried clay, fabric printing, screen-printing and die-cut card making.
Another successful month for us all.
