Bath and North East Somerset Council are offering free learning courses to build skills at Bath College, Somer Valley Campus.

The Adult Community Learning courses are suitable for anyone over the age of 19 who is unemployed, earning less than £21,255 in the district of Bath and North East Somerset or less than £18,525 outside of the area. Those wishing to attend need to have lived in the UK for three years.

On Thursday, 18th of January, an intensice one-day MS Outlook course will be held at the campus. Attendees will get the chance to revolutionise their email efficiency by learning the ins and outs of Microsoft Outlook, gaining insights on how to organise their inbox and utilise productivity features included in the software. The basics of how to create, update, delete and add attachments to emails will also be covered, as well as how to arrange online meetings, keeping learners up to date with the digital age.

Staying with computers, Bath College will be hosting an Excel workshop, teaching attendees how to use the Microsoft software over the course of three weeks. Sessions will run on Thursdays between 9:30am and 1pm and will start on the 25th of January. The course will teach how to organise and sort data, planning using Excel and how to perform calculations. This course is suitable for beginners.

For those looking to learn a craft, Bath College Somer Valley Campus is also hosting stonemasonry course. Sessions for this run until the end of February (Thursday 29th) and began on the 11th of January.

Prospective stonemasons will get to try a new skill, carving bath stone and creating letters, with chance to meet artists and craftspeople at the weekly sessions. This course is a great opportunity to look after your mental wellbeing.

For those with children looking to help their youngsters with numeracy study, Somer Valley Campus are hosting a four week course for maths, specifically for Key Stage 2 parents.

If you are struggling to help your child with their secondary school studies, this course could provide some valuable insights over its four week run time. The classes, called ‘Multiply for Parents’, started on the 11th of January and will run until the 1st of February. Spaces may still be available.
