Pupils at St John’s Primary School in Midsomer Norton have celebrated Earth Day (22nd April) with a day of activities celebrating the wonderful things which inspire or amaze them about our world.

Each class created sustainable artwork, including placemats, natural paintbrushes, bird masks, fish art and egg box flowers.

Seedings class have been learning about the kinds of things we can all do to look after our environment in celebration of Earth Day.

The children have really enjoyed the roleplay recycling centre in the playground and learnt to distinguish different types of materials.

They also made wind twizzlers out of recycled materials, which they enjoyed racing with on the school field. They have been busy litter picking in the woodland area and planted an oak tree in the school’s woodland area.

A photography competition was won by Evie in Acorn Class with a picture of a wonderful sunset. Well done, Evie!
