Schoolchildren have created a piece of history in Temple Cloud by making a time capsule for a new development in the village.

Year five and six pupils from Cameley Primary School chose a range of items, including a newspaper, school books and their own messages for the time capsule, which is designed to be found again in fifty years’ time.

The time capsule has been buried at Cameley Primary School, to mark the new David Wilson Homes development. Hannah Maggs, Headteacher at Cameley Primary, said: “The time capsule was a great project to get our pupils thinking about the local area and to leave something for future pupils and the wider community to enjoy.”

She went on to say: “Our pupils have really enjoyed making messages that might be read by the children who will be living at the new development in fifty years’ time.”

Louise Ware, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes said: “It was great to see the personal messages created by the children and the items they chose reflect life in 2017 perfectly,” she said.

“We hope many of them will still be in the area when it is dug up in 2067.”
