A FUNDRAISING drive has allowed Peasedown St John Primary School to receive £2,000 worth of new musical instruments.

Organised by the school’s parent and staff association, the fundraising has meant that the music department has been able to purchase a full class set of recorders, as well as enough xylophones and metallophones for every child in a class to use.

The school employs a full-time music teacher, offers lunchtime choirs alongside an afternoon orchestra club, plus a music bursary supporting children who receive free school meals.

Ruth Noall, headteacher at Peasedown St John Primary School, said: “What a fantastic start to the new school year. As well as this £2,000 donation to purchase more high-quality musical instruments, we’re also thrilled to be offering whole-class brass tuition this term.”
