Local radio boss and founder of the Midsomer Norton based charity Sound Vision, Dom Chambers, has for the last five years been on a remarkable journey of health recovery and transformation. Dom’s story is not just about weight loss; it’s a story of resilience, self-belief, and a commitment to helping others.

In 2011, Dom was diagnosed with lymphedema, a long-term chronic condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues. It develops when the lymphatic system does not work properly. Having defective lymph glands contributed to why he has always struggled with maintaining a healthy body weight. Dom’s journey to take control of his health began five years ago. After a sustained period of overworking and neglecting his well-being, he knew something had to change.

In 2019, Dom set an ambitious goal under medical supervision - to lose ten stone. With determination, Dom embarked on his weight loss journey, overcoming numerous challenges and setbacks along the way. It wasn’t just about shedding pounds; it was about building inner strength and self-belief. As of today, Dom has lost a staggering seven and a half stone, but the last two and a half stone are proving an even more formidable challenge.

Sound Vision, the charity Dom founded, empowers individuals and communities through personal development, education, creativity and communications. Through training, they offer solutions to a lack of opportunities, loneliness, isolation, and regional disparity. Sound Vision’s skills-based learning programmes are inclusive, supporting neurodiversity, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, those vulnerable to exclusion or criminal justice and those seeking employment.

Sound Vision’s doors are open to everyone, they often help people who have self-improvement or employability goals as sometimes people need a helping hand or a supportive environment to realise their potential. Dom recognised that his journey to health and well-being needed to be driven by the same philosophy.

To further motivate himself and support the work of Sound Vision in empowering others, Dom has launched a fundraising campaign. This campaign not only aids him in reaching his weight loss goal but also contributes to Sound Vision’s mission to improve lives.

Dom Chambers commented, “My personal journey of health recovery is coming to a life-changing, critical point, just as the charity is growing to match demand across the UK.”

“Please consider sponsoring me, as your support will not only help to encourage me but also help others with their personal development and opportunities to fulfil their potential.”

“No donation is too large or too small. It all makes a fantastic difference. Thank you so much!”

Maxine Stride, a Sound Vision Trustee, said: “I have known Dom Chambers for over fifteen years and am inspired by how he has dedicated his life to helping others.”

“Since he founded Sound Vision it has empowered over five hundred trainees and supported more than two hundred people in getting a job of their choice. One of those people was me. Donating to his fundraiser would help him to enable even more people to live a life of their choosing and spur him on to live a healthier life that he so clearly deserves.”

By supporting Dom’s fundraiser, you are not just aiding in his weight loss journey but also becoming a part of the Sound Vision movement, which believes in the potential of every individual.
