Children from St Mary’s Primary School, Writhlington, gave parents a real end of term treat after months of hard work. Utilising their large school grounds, there were separate stages, including a Monkey Temple, so that parents moved around from scene to scene as the story unfolded.
Thankfully the weather stayed warm and fine all week for the outdoor performances, with four in total which ran last Wednesday and Thursday.
The children have been working with visiting artists throughout the year to design and make all of the sets and have been learning about the process along the way, including costume making, lighting and choreography.
One parent got in touch with us at The Journal via Facebook and said: “I have just been to see the school production of The Jungle Book, and all I can say is ‘wow’ – and that doesn’t do it justice!
“It was absolutely fabulous – well done everyone, you are simply amazing. It was the best school production from a primary school in years.”
