A MALE voice choir will be going on its first weekend tour since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mendip Male Voice Choir will be joining Cowbridge Male Voice Choir and Taff Ely Ladies Choir at concerts in Wales this weekend.

The first concert will be with Cowbridge Male Voice Choir at Llantwit Major Leisure Centre, Llanwit, at 7pm on Friday, September 19. The proceeds will support Llantwit Major and Cowbridge Lions Club, and the evening will provide choral variety, with both choirs performing individually before joining together for the finale.

Tickets for the show are available on Eventbrite from £14.25.

The Mendip Male Voice Choir will then join the Taff Ely Ladies Choir at St Peter’s Church, Dinas Powys, at 7pm on Saturday, September 20.

The Taff Ely Ladies Choir sing a wide range of songs, including contemporary and classical pieces, while the Mendip Men will sing a selection from its recent series of summer concerts.

Tickets for this show are available on Ticketsource at £10 per ticket.

Musical director Kate Courage said: “The Mendip Men are excited to be going on tour again.

“We always used to travel to join forces with other choirs pre-COVID, so I am thrilled we have managed to resume this lovely tradition and we are very much looking forward to wonderful Wales.

“It's a great way for everyone to get to know one another better and strengthen the bonds of friendship, as well as have a lot of fun, and create musical memories that we all share.”

Richard Luscombe, chairman of Mendip Male Voice Choir, said: “It's a great opportunity for us to sing with two choirs over our tour weekend”

“We are looking forward to joining forces with Cowbridge Male Voice Choir again and singing with the Taff Ely ladies for the first time. One weekend, two concerts and three choirs. We’re raring to go.”
