St Peter’s Parish Church

EASTER is one of the great festivals in the Churches year. As with Christmas it is a time of celebration but it is also a particular time of reflection on our personal faith and a witness to the sacrifice of the crucifixion and the joy of Jesus’ resurrection.

Forty celebrants joined our service on Good Friday, the day our minds concentrate on the crucifixion, a service of quiet reflection - particularly at the point where we all knelt or sat at the foot of the cross erected in our church.

However, 34 souls were brave enough to face a dawn service at 6.40 am which due to the weather was held inside, to celebrate the moment in which the tomb was found open and empty; the resurrection that gives us all hope. The effort of those attending was rewarded afterwards by very welcome bacon rolls.

Another significant event is the departure of our curate, Nathanael Worsley, to his own benefice in Cheshire. Nathanael’s final service in the Waterside Benefice will be one of celebration of his ministry here in Westfield and Radstock on the April 26. More details later but there will be something of a bun-fight after the service and a chance to say our personal farewells.
