A MONTH-long pop-up exhibition in Shepton Mallet this November will feature the work of 20 local artists, including Radstock-based Jo Barber.
Visitors can expect a diverse range of artworks, from paintings and drawings to ceramics, fused glass, collage, and stone carvings, with many pieces available to purchase. Several works will be exhibited in Shepton for the first time, offering both collectors and new visitors something fresh to explore.
The exhibition will take place at 8 Town Street (BA4 5BG) and is open to the public every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 4pm throughout November.
A mid-month ‘All Change’ event on Friday, November 21 from 6pm to 9pm will see new artists and fresh works added to the display. Visitors can celebrate the swap-over with complimentary Pilton Cider and enjoy a completely refreshed exhibition. The evening also offers the chance to meet the artists and learn more about their creative processes.
Shepton Artists is a collective of Somerset-based creatives who regularly collaborate to showcase their work across a wide range of disciplines. Jo Barber, one of the participants, is an award-winning artist based in Radstock whose work has been featured in major exhibitions in London and the South West.
Barber is known for her striking drawings in coloured pencil and graphite, and has recently focused on capturing buildings and urban landscapes using ink and watercolour.
The exhibition will conclude with a special Sunday opening on November 30 to coincide with the Shepton Mallet Christmas Market. This provides a perfect opportunity for families visiting the market to enjoy the art and support local talent.
Visitors will be able to browse, buy, and experience a wide variety of original works while meeting the artists behind them.
Admission to both the exhibition and the ‘All Change’ event is free.
