Leader of B&NES Lib Dems, Councillor Kevin Guy, reacted to today's decision by the High Court to give Bristol Airport the go ahead for expansion, calling it 'extremely disappointing outcome'.

“Airport expansion is fundamentally incompatible with local Councils’ commitment to tackling the Climate Emergency. This decision goes against local wishes and efforts to reduce emissions.

"The growth of Bristol Airport and the lack of sustainable transport access options means B&NES residents will be further affected by noise, traffic and pollution associated with the airport.

"B&NES Council has voted to oppose expansion of Bristol Airport on multiple occasions and has formally objected to expansion through the planning process. This is an extremely disappointing outcome, but I am certain this is not the end of the fight.”
