A PERSON has died following an emergency incident on the railway line near Oldfield Park railway station this morning (Wednesday, May 14).

British Transport Police confirmed that officers were called at 11.10am to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene, but the individual was sadly pronounced deceased.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Train services between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads were significantly disrupted while emergency services responded. Although the line has since reopened, disruption is expected to continue until at least 2.30pm, with some trains cancelled, diverted, or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Owing to emergency services dealing with an incident between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads, all lines are currently blocked. Trains running through these stations may be cancelled, revised, diverted or delayed. Disruption is expected until 2.30pm; passengers are advised to check with their train operator or National Rail Enquiries before travelling.”
