Three colleagues who have spent at least 35 years together will be retiring from Choice Hair salon, Timsbury, on 30th June.
Heather May’s father bought her the business in his local village 42 years ago, continuing the employment of Margaret, who already worked at the shop, and who is now 86 years old, finally hanging up her scissors after 45 years. Karen later joined the team, having completed 35 years service herself, and they are also joined by Kim Hallett.
Margaret said: “We’ve been a good team – I’ve watched them get married, have children and now grandchildren. We’ve laughed and cried together; it’s all of these things that have made the salon a success.”
Heather added: “We’ve had a good innings. I am looking forward to some leisurely lunches and exploring the area. I also will be very pleased to have my Saturdays back after 42 years!
“We have had some extremely loyal customers over the years and we would like to thank them – some have been coming to the salon in the village for over half a century.”
Heather, who still owns the building, hopes that it will continue to be run as a hairdressers, with a lease due to be signed and the new tenant to begin operating from 1st July.
